Commitment
Based Process Design
Social networking intensifies the need for
businesses to be able to adapt quickly in the
face of rapid change. When organizations try to
apply paradigms for IT and production to people,
they do so at their peril. No longer is it
sufficient to focus on managing materials and
information. Every business process – from
managing materials, to sharing data, to
interacting with customers, suppliers, and
internal teams - is influenced by something
larger: a network of communications and
relationships. Improving effectiveness,
efficiency, and accountability within these
networks and conversations is the focus on
Commitment-Based Process Design.
Commitment-based processes address issues of
purpose, and play a powerful role in fueling
innovation and collaboration, within and across
departmental lines. They also play a powerful
role in facilitating communication and
accountability up and down the line.
Our role is to provide the training and tools
that enable you to be rigorous in managing
complex conversations. “Commitment maps” enable
leaders to follow developments in all phases of
a project’s life, from preparation and
negotiation to performance and assurance. They
also enable process participants at all levels
to grasp the whole of a given process and
appreciate the inter-dependent roles and
responsibilities that will have it succeed.
Since conversations for
action in any organization must be continuously
created and revisited, these tools are designed
to cause and sustain action, and generate
accountability. Having a rigorous way to track
conversations enables leaders to identify and
address waste and breakdowns quickly, and to
keep projects on track and on schedule.
